What a Segment is
A Segment is a saved group of products defined by a rule — for example, "all products with a profit margin above 30%" or "this season's new arrivals" or "everything in the apparel category currently in stock".
Unlike a Segment (which is hand-curated), a Segment updates itself automatically as products come and go. A product that drops below your profit threshold falls out of the segment; a new arrival joins it the moment it's imported. You define the rule once and the group stays current without any maintenance.
Step 1: Open Segments and create a new one
Go to Segments and click "New segment".
Step 2: Set the rule
Define the conditions that make a product part of this group. You can combine multiple conditions:
- Price range (e.g. price above $20)
- Category (e.g. product type = "Running Shoes")
- Performance signal (e.g. ROAS above 3.0)
- Inventory (e.g. stock level above 10 units)
- Custom tag or label
FeedGraph shows the matching products in real time as you build the rule, so you can see the size and composition of the segment before saving.
Step 3: Name and save the segment
Give the segment a descriptive name — something that makes its purpose obvious to anyone on your team. Save it.
Step 4: Use the segment in feeds and reports
When building a Platform Feed, choose this segment as your product source. FeedGraph always uses the current, live membership of the segment — so a feed built from "in-stock, high-margin products" automatically drops products that go out of stock or fall below your margin threshold.
In Advertising overview and Reports, filter by segment to see performance for just that product group.
Keeping segments useful
Review your segment rules quarterly. As your catalog and business evolve, the rules that defined "best sellers" or "high-profit items" may need updating to stay accurate.
